Study of prevalence of clinical mastitis in cows on the dairy farm in Rostov region

Summary. The article reflects the results of studies of the prevalence of clinical forms of mastitis in large horned cattle on the basis of the dairy farm Kolos (Myasnikovsky district, Rostov region) for the period of 3 years. In order to conduct the research, a thorough analysis of the outpatient logs of animal examination was carried out, as well as daily examination, recording and statistical processing of the obtained data. In the course of the research it was found that the prevalence of clinical mastitis on the Kolos farm averages 24.8%. So, in 2018 and 2019 the incidence of mastitis was about 26%, in 2020 the incidence decreased to 21.55%. Analyzing the data, it was found that the largest number of animals with mastitis was observed in the postpartum period. So, in the studied farm in 2018 52.7% of sick animals were detected in the postpartum period, in 2019 - 50.5%, and in 2020 - 53.6%; during the lactation period in 2018 - 37.5%, in 2019 - 41.9%, and in 2020 - 39.2%. During the launch period, the incidence of cows with mastitis decreased significantly and amounted from 6.25% to 4.8%. In the dry period, the incidence of mastitis in cows on this dairy farm was single and amounted to 3.6% in 2018, 2.8% in 2019, and in 2020 only 2% of all sick animals. Also, in the course of the conducted research, it was found that the incidence of cows with mastitis in Rostov region is seasonal. In the period from March to May there were 154 diseased animals, and in the period from September to November - 90 cows.
