STRUCTURAL ORGANIZATION OF ENDOCRINE PANCREAS IN CALVES OF AYRSHIRE BREED (IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL STUDY)

Dilekova O.V.

Summary. By structural construction endocrine islets have bipolar type of structure, as indicated by the ratio of α- and β-cells in relation to each other. β-cells are the main cell type, composed not only of endocrine islets, but also in the exocrine portion of the gland. In islets, they form cell clusters and are located mainly around the periphery in the form of non-closed rings or completely fill the islet. In exocrine gland β-cells together with the PP-cells are found both singly and in the form of small cell clusters. Most often, they are visualized in the interlobular excretory ducts between epithelial cells and among the exocrine acini. α-islet cells disposed between the diffusely β-islet cells on the periphery, but only focused at one of its poles. In exocrine part gland α-cells not were detected. δ-cells are located at the periphery of the islets around the perimeter, in the form of a closed chain of cells lying in one number. In the exocrine glands are found between single and pancreas acini. PP-cells are located in an island of diffusely, often bordering the exocrine part. Throughout the gland determined large clusters of cells with positive reactions to insulin. Reactions to glucagon, somatostatin and pancreatic polypeptide was negative. Cells clusters are not clearly structured, growing into the exocrine part of gland. Above mentioned changes characterize unfinished processes of morphogenetic events, such as sorting, migration and cell aggregation.

Keywords: calves, pancreas, endocrine islets, type of structure, insulin cells, glucagon cells, somatostatin cells, PP endocrinocytes, differentiation.
