Summary. Currently, any pathological process in the body is considered from the point of view of balance in the lipid peroxidation system and antioxidant protec-tion of the body, the violation of which leads to the development of oxidative stress. The mechanisms of the pathogenesis of liver damages of various genesis include destabilization of hepatocyte membranes, which depends on the initiation of free radical lipid peroxidation of biomembranes. Studies have been conducted to determine the intensity of lipid peroxidation processes and the state of the antioxidant system of the body of highly productive dairy cows with fatty liver dystrophy. The animals were selected in the experiment by physiological condition, the results of the clinical examination, the biochemical profile of blood, as well as by the ultrasound diagnosis of liver. In total 20 cows were selected using the paired analogs method and 2 groups were formed (n = 10): the first experimental group was diagnosed with fatty hepatosis and the second control group with healthy cows. It was determined that the development of fatty hepatosis in cows occurs on the background of activation of lipid perox-idation with an increase in all lipoperoxidation products. At the same time, the level of malondialdehyde in the blood increases significantly, which in animals with diseases exceeded the corresponding indicator of clinically healthy cows by 52.8% (p>0.001), with a less pronounced increase in the concentration of diene conjugates and ketodienes. In cows with deseases, a decrease in a number of indicators of antioxidant protection relative to healthy animals is revealed with the maximum difference in the non-enzymatic link of anti-radical protection, which is 39.2% for carotene (p>0.001) and 29.8% for vitamin C (p<0.05). The pathological process in liver affected the concentration of glutathione peroxidase, which is an enzyme of the second line of antiradical protection. A decrease in its activity was determined without a pronounced manifestation with a difference of 12% between groups.
