The modified thawing (rehydration) protocol was first used for bovine blastocysts after vitrification. According to the results of blastocyst survival, as well as the rate of re-expansion after thawing, no significant differences were found between the modified and standard multi-stage protocol. Survival rates were similar in both groups (99.5%). The reexpansion rate was 2.22 ± 0.18 h in the control group and 2.34 ± 0.19 h in the modified protocol, respectively. The use of a modified protocol will reduce the time of embryo thawing, and therefore the time the embryos are outside the incubator at suboptimal temperature and osmolarity. Keywords: vitrification, bovine blastocysts, thawing of embryos, thawing of blastocysts. References: 1. Donnik I. M., Makutina V. A., Isaeva A. G. et al.
