Abstract: Tetanus is an important problem for humans and veterinary medicine as evidenced by WHO studies and reports of various researchers. The disease usually occurs with symptoms of severe intoxication and frequently it is a fatal infectious disease. Specific prevention is the only reliable method for disease prevention. Whereas there were no domestic associated vaccines against anaerobic illnesses of cattle in the Russian Federation, our task was to develop an associated vaccine against the most actual Clostridium infections of cattle, including tetanus, and to carry out comparative study of immunogenic activity of Cl. tetani component in an associated vaccine in comparison with the existing tetanus toxoid concentrated. In the course of work determination of optimal volume of Cl. tetani anatoxin was made which is a part of the immunizing dose of an experimental series of the associated inactivated vaccine against Clostridium infections of cattle equal to 0,1 ml. At the same time both drugs could provide considerable accumulation of anti-toxic antibodies that has been confirmed in the neutralization reaction on white mice with absolute survival. In the control group, all mice died. Laboratory tests on rabbits, used as a biological model, allowed us to determine the duration of antitetanic immunity which has made 13 months from the moment of the beginning of research. The need for further study of this indicator did not make sense due to the fact that the term of the remaining components of the associated vaccine does not exceed 12 months. According to data obtained this drug can be used as means of specific prevention of tetanus in animals.

Key words: Tetanus, Clostridium tetani, susceptibility to tetanus, characterization of the pathogen, disease of cattle, virulence factors, associated vaccine, clinical manifestations, immunogenicity, specific efficiency, toxin, toxoid infecting dose, white mouse.
