Immune response dynamics in horses after vaccination against leptospirosis

Summary. Results of studies on the dynamics of specific antibodies and the etiological structure of horses vaccinated against leptospirosis are presented. Production controlled experience was conducted on the basis of the Gorno-Altai Factory Stable in the Republic of Altai. Two experimental groups of animals were formed: group 1 - young animals from several months to 3 years (50 heads), group 2 - adult mares and stallions from 3 to 11 years old (50 heads). When conducting the experiment, vaccine against leptospirosis of the Armavir biofactory was used (polyvalent VGNKI made from the leptospira serogroup strains pomona, grippotyphosa, tarassovi, sejroe). Serum from all animals was examined in the microagglutination reaction and urine samples in dark-field microscopy before and after vaccination. Leptospira were not found in the study of 150 urine samples. The maximum amount of antibodies to leptospira was recorded at the age of 12-13 months in 22% of animals to serogroups sejroe, grippotyphosa and tarassovi in a titer 1: 100, at the age of 22-26 months in 4% of animals to serogroups grippotyphosa and tarassovi with antibody titer 1:100 - 1:120. In adult horses specific antibodies were detected in 54% 2-3 months after vaccination to serogroups grippotyphosa, tarassovi and sejroe in the titer of 1:100; 3 months after revaccination antibodies were detected in 30% in the titer of 1:100 - 1:150; 9 months after revaccination antibodies were detected in 2% of the animals to the leptospirae of the grippotyphosa serogroup in the titer of 1:400.
