Impact of inactivated virus vaccine administration on cattle immune response

Mishchenko A.V., Dumova V.V., Mishchenko V.A, Kononov A.V., Chernykh O.Yu.

Summary

Sorbated and emulsion vaccines, that were different in methods of administration (subcutaneous and intramuscular), were used for prevention of cattle diseases. No reactogenicity was observed during clinical examination of vaccinated down-calving cows and youngsters. The analysis of results of laboratory investigations revealed no difference in titres of coronavirus antibodies in blood sera from intramuscularly or subcutaneously vaccinated down-calving cows and their newborn calves, that were promptly fed by colostrum.

The level of virus specific antibodies to infectious rhinotracheitis virus and coronavirus in blood sera from immunized youngsters as well as the duration of postvaccinal humoral immunity did not depend on a method of vaccine administration. Subcutaneous or intramuscular administration of antiviral inactivated vaccines exerts no significant influence on a level of postvaccinal antibodies.
