Authors studied the state of the prooxidant-antioxidant system of the body of calves with signs of antenatal hypotrophy in the conditions of the livestock complex against the background of the use of the complex drug interamin that contains hydrophilic cryofraction of bovine spleen, species-specific (bovine) recombinant interferons -alpha and -gamma and vitamins A, E. The object of the study were newborn calves. Three groups were formed. The calves of the experimental group (n=10, hypotrophic calves) were subcutaneously administered the complex drug interamin at a dose of 1 ml per 10 kg of animal weight five times on days 1, 3, 8-14, 18-24 and 56-60 of life. The calves of the second (n=10, negative control, hypotrophic calves) and third (n=10, control, normotrophic calves) groups were not treated with drugs. On the first day after birth, as well as on days 7, 30 of life and 5-10 days after the transfer to the growing completing group, the samples of venous blood were taken from the calves to assess the indicators characterizing the state of the lipid peroxidation -antioxidant defence system. In the course of the study, it has been found that the use of interamin contributed to the formation of a coherence between the interaction of the enzymatic and non-enzymatic links of the antioxidant defence system in hypotrophic calves, which is confirmed by a decrease in the content of malondialdehyde, medium weight molecules, diene conjugates, ketodienes and indicators of endogenous intoxication, as well as an optimization of the level of stable nitric oxide metabolites, and increased activity of antioxidant defence enzymes (GPO, catalase, SOD). Thus, the use of interamin limited the activation of free radical oxidation that ensured the optimization of adaptive changes of metabolism and reparative processes in young cattle with signs of antenatal hypotrophy. Keywords: calves, hypotrophy, interamin, lipid peroxidation, antioxidant protection, recombinant interferons, malondialdehyde, ketodienes, diene conjugates, medium weight molecules, nitric oxide.
