This article describes for the first time the pathological changes in urethral obstruction and penile necrosis in the South African oryx (Oryx gazella). Stricture and adhesions of the penile urethra due to sclerotization and necrosis caused urostasis, leading to uremia, obstructive renal failure, ruptures in the bladder neck, myocardial dystrophy, spleen atrophy, inflammation and necrosis of the liver, acute pulmonary edema and DIC syndrome. The penile glans together with the prepuce were subjected to dry gangrene. Above the demarcation line, there was a disruption in the structure of the cavernous body of the penis, an increased presence of connective tissue components, vascular sclerosis, and a focal inflammatory reaction in the form of a release of lymphoid cells. The urogenital canal was narrowed, fused in places, and there were fistulas. There were changes in the tissues of the prostate gland characteristic of prostatitis. Keywords: South African oryx, gemsbok, autopsy, uremia, urethral obstruction, urostasis, obstructive renal failure, penis necrosis, penital urethra, bladder neck, toxic dystrophy, urethral stricture, urolith, fistula, ureters, kidneys.
