Summary. Observed at the present time intensification of industrial livestock often leads to exploitation of high yielding cows at the limit of physiological features, causing the profound reorientation of metabolic organs and body systems. The complex of external factors, increasing loads during pregnancy, calving and lactation lead to functional impairment, one of the most common forms of which are deeply dysfunctional changes of the hepatobiliary system. According to this, the increasing relevance got steatosis therapy with hepatoprotective preparations. The article presents the results of tests of a new injecting hepatoprotective preparation livazen, which has a pronounced hepatoprotective, antioxidant, lipotropic properties, as a therapeutic agent for steatosis of cows. In selected in the experiment cows by a research complex (clinical, biochemical, ultrasound diagnostics) were found signs of functional activity of the liver, which allowed to talk about the diagnosis "fatty steatosis". The results of the experiment revealed that intramuscular injection of livazen in cows during 21 days had a significant positive effect on blood parameters, exhibited by a significant increase in the total protein level by 26,3% and albumin while reducing y-globulins, reflecting the activation of protein synthesis processes of hepatic cell function on the weakening of inflammatory processes; decrease of enzyme activity of the liver transaminase in 1,6 times (ASAT), and in 1,71 times (ALAT), decrease of alkaline phosphatase in 1,71 times and total bilirubin in 1,87 times. Efficiency of the hepatotropic therapy of livazen was confirmed by the improvement of the clinical status of the animals and by the results of ultrasound diagnosis, demonstrating the recovery of the liver parenchyma and improving the functional activity of hepatocytes.

Key words: steatosis, large horned cattle, liver, hepatocytes, hepatoprotector, therapy, livazen, biochemistry, transaminase, blood, albumin, gamma-globulin.
