Clinical and pathoanatomical expression of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia in the Republic of Angola

Katinda J.V.B., Terekhov V.I.

Summary

Contagious bovine pleuropneumonia in the Republic of Angola in most cases has chronic course in which the main clinical signs are anorexia and recurrent loose cough, and the development of arthritis in calves. Pathological changes are detected only in the thoracic cavity and are related with the presence of a significant amount of exudate, multiple adhesions and fibrin overlay on the pleura and lung, as well as the detection of fibrinous pericarditis. The acute form of the disease is registered in the range of 20% of cases and is characterized by apparent signs of lung lesions: severe superficial breath, catarrhal-purulent rhinitis, cough, pain and swelling in the thorax, and fever. Marbling and edemas of the lungs’ interlobular connective tissue is set at autopsy.

Key words: cattle, contagious bovine pleuropneumonia, clinical signs, pathoanatomical changes.
