Shevkoplyas V.N.

Summary

Proportion of farms of population of Krasnodar region in the total production of the main livestock production in 2011 amounted to almost 50% of all proportion. Considering that the total number of livestock in population economies is slightly more than 25%, presented data are indicative. Specialists of the state veterinary service of the region pay permanent attention to solving of problems of prevention and liquidation of infectious and parasitic diseases of cattle, preservation and increase of productivity, improvement of quality of the livestock products, as well as the protection of the environment and population from diseases common to humans and animals, in population economies, including peasant farms.

In 2011 Administration of Krasnodar region in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture and Processing Industry of Krasnodar region and the State Veterinary Department of Krasnodar region developed a regional target program "Redirecting of private subsidiary and peasant (farm) economies of Krasnodar region, engaged in cultivation of pigs, on breeding of alternative animal species" for 2012-2014, aimed to prevent the spread of African swine fever and negative impacts of the Montgomery disease outbreaks in the region in the form of elimination of pig breeding industry in full. 25 foci of African swine fever were registered during the period from January 2008 to October 2011 in Krasnodar Region.

Preventive measure of prophylaxis of African swine fever is compliance with veterinary regulations, primarily insurance of work of farms engaged in pig breeding in closed mode, including elimination of the possibility of joint content of different animal species. One option of solution of the problem is conversion of farms to alternative courses of livestock (cattle, sheep, coypu, rabbit, poultry breeding).

Key words: Krasnodar region, livestock products, African swine fever, focus of infection, coypu breeding, rabbit breeding.
