Summary. The highest values of the extent of invasion of the thickness of scales and fins by cysts with metacercariae of Metagonimus yokogawai trematode were found within a high level of registration (48.50-60.00%) and the epidemiologically dangerous degree of the abundance index from 18.62 to 31.80 ind./individual in populations of such fish as Terek barbel, goldfish, roach and Terek gudgeon. Also, the extensiveness of invasion of cysts with Metagonimus yokogawai metacercariae in the thickness of scales and fins was within the limits of a high level of occurrence (37.00-45.00%) and a high abundance index (10.66-17.94 sp./sp.) of trematode metacercariae in populations of commercial fish (carp, Ciscaucasian spined carp, mirror carp), which requires constant monitoring of the spread of parasitic zoonotic disease, which is dangerous for the population of the North Caucasus region. No cases of registration of metagonimosis in Dagestan have been identified in humans. The distribution pattern of cysts with metacercariae of the trematode Metagonimus yokogawai in the scales, gills and fins of 14 species of commercial and weed fish in the rivers of the Terek basin on the territory of Dagestan allows authors to consider the invasion of metagonimosis as an increasing epizootic and epidemic risk in Dagestan and as a biological threat to aquaculture for humans. The authors believe that the invasion of metagonimosis of fish, carnivores and humans throughout the basin of the river Terek requires quarterly program monitoring.

Keywords: Republic of Dagestan, Terek river basin, fish, scales, fins, cyst, metacercariae, trematode, Metagonimus yokogawai, localization, abundance index, extensiveness and intensity of invasion.
