ON THE TOXICITY OF PREPARATIONS BASED ON QUATERNARY AMMONIUM COMPOUNDS
Donnik I.M., Subbotina O.G., Vyalykh I.V.
Summary. Modern disinfectants are often a composition based on one, two or more active substances in proportions to achieve maximum effect against the most resistant microorganisms, as well as functional additives aimed at changing their properties (corrosion inhibitors, perfumes). Currently, veterinary surveillance objects use preparations based on quaternary ammonium compounds. Authors studied the toxicity of new disinfecting preparations based on quaternary ammonium compounds on laboratory animals. To assess the inhalation hazard preparations were sprayed indoors, where white rats were located. Water was sprayed in control group. When assessing the impact of solutions of disinfectants on white rats rapid breathing, serous secretions and a slight decrease in activity of the animals were observed. Behavior and activity of the rats in the experimental groups did not differ from those in the control groups. Changes in the internal organs of animals in the experimental and control groups were not found during autopsy.
