Summary. Scientific materials on the study of the therapeutic efficacy of the drug ceftiofur hydrochloride, first used in the farms of Smolensk region for serous-catarrhal mastitis in lactating cows are presented in the article. The main role in the occurrence of mastitis belongs to bacterial microflora. Penetrating into the mammary gland, microorganisms multiply and cause its inflammation, this happens as a result of a decrease in the resistance of the breast and the immune reactivity of the body, while the development of the pathological process as a whole is complicated. In solving the problem of mastitis therapy, it is important to select and use new effective drugs that reduce the treatment time of cows and the use of milk with a minimum waiting period after the administration of medicines. The study of the therapeutic efficacy of a drug not previously used in the farm was carried out in two groups of 25 heads in each. The incidence of mastitis in the farm is quite significant - during 2022, 61.0% of animals had subclinical mastitis in the herd, 32.0% of animals had clinical mastitis. The cows of the experimental group of patients with mastitis were treated with ceftiofur hydrochloride 10 ml intramuscularly in the control group Mastivet was used. The results of the performed studies indicate a high therapeutic efficacy for the economy of the drug used for the first time. During the three-day course of treatment of cows with mastitis, it was 84.0% in the experimental group, which is 28.0% higher than the control group.
