Summary. In the article, the authors present an analysis of the prevalence of echinococcosis in pasture sheep and goats under the age of three years, as well as otary dogs kept on the plain, foothill and mountainous zones of the Republic of Dagestan in 2021. The dead and carcasses of slaughter animals, as well as dogs and their excrement, were examined at different times of the year from early spring to late autumn. As a result of the research, it was found that the spread of echinococcosis in sheep and goatsin the territory of the republic ranges from 11.8% to 17.0%, on average -13.7%. The average value of the extensity of echinococcosis invasion in pasture keeping sheep and goats in the zones of the vertical zonality of the region is 23%. The study of the intensity of invasion gave the following results: in the mountainous and foothill zone - 23.6±2.3 ind. per head and in the flat zone - 22.3±2.1 ind. per head. Among otary dogs average extensity equals 30.5%, intensity ranges 3 136.6±343.0 ind. per head. The obtained results indicate that echinococcosis infection in sheep and goats in Dagestan remains at the high level, causing great damage to sheep breeding and constantly threatening the health of citizens.
