Summary. The article analyzes the literature data on the results of epizootological studies conducted in disadvantaged farms of Russia on the respiratory pathology of goats of high-milk breeds imported from different European countries, as well as clinical examination data revealed during the autopsy of dead goats, pathoanatomical changes and laboratory test results, samples of pathological material taken from the corpses of dead animals. The main clinical symptoms in sick goats were: fever, cough and mucous discharge from the nasal cavity. A mastitis form of the disease which is called ‘blue udder’ is recorded in sheep and goats. The death of the diseased goats was noted 5-8 days after the appearance of the first clinical signs. In some cases, the death of animals was recorded 12-24 hours after the onset of the first symptoms of the disease. The death of sick goats was mainly recorded in the farms that did not use antibiotic therapy. Mannheimia haemolytica (commensal pathogen of the nasopharynx and upper respiratory system of ruminants) was isolated from the samples of pathological material taken from the corpses of dead goats. Pathological processes of a different nature develop under the action of this pathogen. Pathogen exposure is the leading etiological agent of pulmonary manheimiosis in small and large horned cattle. The disease can be characterized by various forms of manifestation from fibrinous pneumonia, bronchopneumonia to fibrinous pleurisy. Manheimiosis is characterized by a high degree of morbidity and mortality on the farms. Necrosis of large and small alveolar vessels and accumulation of fibrin in the alveoli of the lungs, leading to fibrinous pleurisy and pleuropneumonia are noted at the autopsy of the dead goats. The pasteurellosis vaccine does not protect animals from Mannheimia haemolytica infection. In the blood serum of goats, antibodies to parainfluenza-3 viruses, viral diarrhea, respiratory syncytial virus infection and infectious bovine rhinotracheitis are detected. The authors consider it to be necessary to continue the study of this disease and develop diagnostics and therapeutic and preventive measures.
