PREVENTION OF BOVINE LEUCOSE IN BREEDING FARMS OF KRASNODAR REGION

Donnik I.M., Dzailidi G.A., Tikhonov S.V.

Summary. Bovine leucose is one of the factors limiting the development of cattle breeding in Krasnodar region. Data on the implementation of the regional program for bovine leucose in breeding farms, indicating declines in infection and morbidity of cattle, as well as an increase in the number of breeding farms free from bovine leukemia virus are presented in the article. Authors made a statistical analysis of more than 10 years. Prior to 2004, level of infection and morbidity increased to an average of 50% and 2.3%, respectively. In the period from 2004 to 2012, the level of infection of cattle has decreased from 42.1% to 3.7%, and the number of infected animals reduced from 2.8% to 1.2%.

There were no leucose-free farms in the period up to 2006 in the Krasnodar region. In the first half of 2013, number of well- breeding farms was 14.2%. Farms with infection levels up to 3% are – 28.6%, 5% – 14.2 % to 10% – 14.2 %, more than 10% – 28.6%.

Improving of the epizootic situation in breeding farms of Krasnodar region can be associated with an increase in the level of professional sufficient veterinary equipment and single-use supplies for veterinary treatments and zootechnical manipulation.

Keywords: leucose, large horned cattle, virus, breeding farms, infection, morbidity, statistical data processing, research, prevention and liquidation program.
