Summary. The causative agent of infectious bovine rhinotracheitis can persist for a long time in the body of susceptible animals, regardless of their vaccination status against this disease. According to many authors, it is the importation of persistently infected cattle with the pathogen IBR in Russia that is one of the main ways of introducing new epizootic strains of this virus from abroad. In the framework of this work, the authors analyzed the possibility of introducing the causative agent of IBR when importing cattle with different vaccination status against this disease from foreign countries with different official welfare statuses according to the WAHO. At the end of the work, the authors substantiate recommendations for the study of imported animals on the territory of the Russian Federation, which will minimize the risk of importing animals persistently infected with the causative agent of infections bovine rhinotracheitis.
