Summary. In recent years, there has been a tense epizootic situation of animal rabies in the Russian Federation. Rabies epizootics are natural focal, stationary in nature, and tend to increase the areas covered by the disease with the development of mixed type epizootics involving neglected animals in the epizootic chain. Maintenance of stable foci of sylvatic rabies is determined by representatives of the canine family - foxes, raccoon dogs, wolves - 42.5% of cases. Domestic and neglected carnivores (dogs, cats) form 32-44% of cases. The experience of many countries proves the possibility of control over the natural and anthropourgic epizootics of rabies by vaccination of domestic animals using inactivated vaccine and wild carnivorous animals by an oral vaccine. Anti-epizootic measures in the control of rabies must have a regular character and to be aimed at regulating the number of wild carnivores and campaign specific oral vaccination of wild carnivores and stray animals. For the eradication of the rabies virus from the natural focus, the annual double immunization of wild and neglected animals in large areas of hunting grounds and adjacent urban areas (landfills, food waste dumps, etc.) is required. For effective control of rabies among wild carnivores and stray animals in Russia proposed «Vaccine for oral immunization of carnivores «RABIVAC-0/333» that has established itself as a highly effective and safe biological preparation. The effectiveness of measures to combat rabies in the Russian Federation can be increased with the introduction of regional programs to combat rabies in the ongoing anti-epizootic activities. Over the past years there has been observed a tense epizootic situation on animal rabies in the Russian Federation. Epizootics of rabies are natural focal, stationary nature, tends to increase in the areas covered by the disease with the development of mixed-type epizootics, involving street animals in the epizootic chain. The maintenance of stable foci of sylvatic rabies is determined by representatives of the canine family - foxes, raccoon dogs, wolves - 42.5% of cases. Domestic and neglected carnivores (dogs, cats) form 32-44% of cases.
