Summary. The economic efficiency of livestock, including dairy cattle, is ensured by the genetic potential of animals, full-fledged feeding and well-being in infectious diseases. According to the OIE 2016 Terrestrial Animal Health Code, «biosafety is defined as a set of management and health maintenance measures to reduce the risk of skidding, fixing and spreading diseases, infections or animal investments. According to the OIE 2016 Terrestrial Animal Health Code, «biosafety» is defined as a set of management and health maintenance measures to reduce the risk of skidding, fixing and spreading diseases, infections or animal investments The main requirement for milking cows is the absence of any deviations in the body of these animals from physiological norms. These indicators are developed and presented in many normative documents and recommendations, including such authoritative organizations (FAO and OIE). Biological safety (biosafety) is a system for preventing the entry of pathogenic microorganisms in the animal population; exclusion or restriction of the spread of pathogens among individuals in the population; destruction or decrease in the concentration of pathogens; control the morbidity of animals, reduce the risk of contamination of products. Creation and implementation of safety plans is related to the veterinary and sanitary status of the herd and the existing risks of importation of pathogens of infectious diseases belonging to the list of the OIE. Criteria for the effectiveness of biosafety are: incidence rate, mortality rate, reproduction rates, milk production level, growth rate of live weight, and physiological condition of animals. The greatest threat to cattle breeding, including dairy farming, is transboundary infections, which are of exceptional importance for the economy, trade and/or food security of many countries, capable of widespread inter-state distribution on an epizootic scale, the fight against which, up to elimination, requires cooperation efforts of several countries.
Keywords: animal husbandry, highly productive large horned cattle, biological safety, epizootological well-being, immunodeficiencies, metabolism, serum, biochemical indicators, transboundary infections, prevention.
