Study of lipid peroxidation in synovial fluid of dogs with osteoarthritis of stifle joint

Summary. According to modern views on the nature of osteoarthritis, this pathology is a chronic progressive disease of the joints associated with degenerative processes in the cartilage, development of secondary synovitis, enhancing the progression of the disease. In the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis have a lot of value factors. One of the most significant factors is the cell membrane damage by free radicals. In the synovial fluid of the experimental animals with simulation of different stages of the process Osteoarthritis analysis of lipid peroxidation. Simulation was performed by immobilization of OA and compression of both stifle joints. The use of an experimental model by compression, using the Ilizarov external fixator showed that these lesions cause destructive and degenerative changes in the joint, which was confirmed clinically and radiographically. Metabolic disorders in the synovium of the affected joint environment lead to changes in its biochemical composition. Based on a study of 30 dogs’ synovial fluid samples was determined that at the early stages there are changes in rates of LPO - reduction and increase of MDA concentration in the concentration of DCs and at later stages of development in dogs detected in synovia accumulation of lipid peroxidation products. However, both early and late stages of the pathological process. imbalance in the peroxidation system was not accompanied by changes in the activity of the main antioxidant enzymes - catalase. These biochemical, radiological and macroscopic observations show that the developed experimental model of degenerative changes in the joints can be used to study and is pathogenetically adequate clinical disease.
