Summary. Suspension cultures are the most promising in solving practical problems related to the obtaining of viral and cellular materials. Cells in suspension at favorable conditions give a higher yield than in stationary conditions. Scientific data for the study of the suspension cultivation of cell culture BHK-21/13-13 on a scale of biotechnological production, adaptation to the slurry process of growing and using it in the manufacture of FMD and rabies vaccines is presented the article. Technological stepwise scheme for the production of BHK-21/13-13 cells bank is shown. Cultivation parameters in the KS-40 in a volume of 30 liters, growing cells in 200-600 liter reactors in industrial production of viral vaccines are considered. Main indices of technological mode of BHK-21/13-13 cell culture cultivation under production conditions are described in the article. Authors improved technology for low-cost effective universal vaccine for large and small horned cattle, dogs and cats that are competitive to best modern foreign analogues according to immunogenicity and stability. Tests for studying the initial seeding cell concentration and mixing modes were carried out in order to establish the optimum mode of cell culture and virus in suspension. Technology developed by the authors will meet the needs of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and CIS countries in the effective preparations and make a significant contribution to the improvement of epizootic situation according to foot-and-mouth disease and rabies, outline ways to improve technologies with the transfer to innovative manufacturing techniques of FMD, rabies vaccines, using foot-and-mouth disease and rabies viruses, BHK 21/13-13 cells cultivated in suspension.
