Summary. The use of antibiotics for the prevention of diseases of bacterial etiology in young pigs leads to a decrease in the post-vaccination immune response of the animal organism, especially in the case of immunization with live vaccines against erysipelas. This leads to an increasing use of inactivated anti-erysipelas vaccines. Taking into account the fact that to control the quality of vaccines against erysipelas in terms of «immunogenic activity», a unified approach has not been developed, the authors conducted a comparative test of methods for assessing the specific activity of vaccines against erysipelas in accordance with EF 0064, as well as regulatory documents (RD) of manufacturers and the proposed methodology «Test of protection of vaccinated mice from infection with a culture of a virulent strain». According to the test results, a 1/10 dose of vaccine for pigs, as a rule, prevented the death of 100% of control white mice immunized with the standard (quality-controlled in terms of immunogenic activity in piglets) and the test vaccine when challenged with a suspension of lyophilized culture of the strain Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae 149 at a dose of 100 LD50 in a volume of 0.1 ml. Moreover, the non-compliance of individual vaccines with the requirements of the ND was confirmed by the results of the control of all tests. Thus, the results of this study allow us to conclude that the tests used in the work do not differ in diagnostic sensitivity and specificity and, accordingly, the Test for the Protection of Vaccinated Mice from Infection with a Virulent Strain Culture can be used to control the quality of vaccines against swine erysipelas.
