Summary. Mating schemes were used with a large number of breeds and sheep breed groups, the offspring of which also requires integrated assessment of productivity and morphobiological features while creating crossbreeding of sheep. Issues of the formation of the skeletal system in the post-embryonic period of life are especially poorly studied. The aim of the study was to examine the linear dimensions of bones of the sheep axial skeleton of different origin. Two groups of rams were formed. Lambs, obtained from fine-coarse-wooled ewes and rams of the breed Romney marsh were included in the first group. The second control group consisted of lambs with fine wool obtained from the same ewes and rams of the Prekos breed. Slaughter of rams at birth and at the age of 4 months (5 heads from each group) was carried out to explore the skeletal system. Authors established that the origin and the age had a definite impact on linear growth of bones of axial skeleton of the experimental lambs. After birth the intensity of linear growth of Calvary was lower (growth coefficient - 1.93) than in the spine (growth coefficient - 2.49), as a result, the relative length of the first during suckling period decreased on average by 3.67% at the spine, on the contrary, increased by the same amount. The spine of experimental lambs in the embryonic period more intensively developed in length than in weight, as a result at birth the length of the spine grew by 37.1-43.1% to the length of the spine at the age of 4 months and weight by 11,0-12,2%. Fine wool young sheep at the age of 4 months had the best performance on precocity length Calvary and spine.
