Summary. An analysis of the pathogenic properties of epizootic isolates of the rabies virus circulating in Krasnodar region that must be taken into consideration developing and conducting complex of antiepizootic measures is presented in the article. The special attention is paid to pathogenicity of the studied isolates for laboratory animals. This article also addresses the problem of some isolated rabies virus isolates from disadvantaged areas of Krasnodar region that have pronounced precipitating properties. As a research task the authors attempted to assess the difference between epizootic strains of the rabies virus in terms of the degree of pathogenicity for laboratory animals. The authors conclude that both highly and slightly pathogenic rabies virus isolates circulate in Krasnodar region. This article addresses the problem of the specificity of clinical manifestations of rabies in animals in Krasnodar region. The authors analyze the results of the index of invasiveness and life expectancy of studied animals after the infection in the brain with rabies virus isolates circulating in Krasnodar region. The article summarizes some other results of the study that establish the difference between epizootic strains of rabies virus by the degree of pathogenicity for laboratory animals. As the result the article substantiates the idea of antigenic relationship of epizootic rabies virus isolates circulating around the studied territory.
