Summary. In clinical diagnosis, the urine test for pH is important, since it allows us to evaluate the state of the organism of cow. However, currently, scientists and practitioners in the field of animal husbandry faced with the fact that there are no clear criteria in determining the general properties of urine, Which creates controversy in the interpretation of the information contained. Therefore, in research problems, it is important to establish a reliable indicator of the urine reaction of cows with its dynamics, depending on the physiological period of the animals. Currently, to determine the urine pH using indicator paper (Phan, universal), however, a more accurate study should be carried out using a pH meter. In the number of farms, with the aim of diagnosing the pH of the urine samples in livestock ,were taken more than 200 cows and heifers. The results obtained during three years of studies proves that, In cows, urine alkaline reaction was registered at the level of 8.0-8.2 units while it naturally decreases towards a slightly alkaline reaction in the period 0-21 days after calving followed by recovery to the initial pH, which is natural for the animal’s organism. Long-term studies conducted that, in different physiological periods allowed to establish clear criteria of the norm urine pH in cows, which contributes to improving the quality of the analysis and monitoring of the health of dairy cows. The problem of the absence of clear criteria for the norm in relation to the pH of urine is considered. In cows, the urine reaction is alkaline, while decreasing regularly in the direction of a slightly alkaline reaction in the period 0-21 days after calving. In the prenatal period without the use of anionic salts, the urine pH is at the level of 8.0-8.2 units.
