Etiological structure of escherichiose of calves in Ryazan region

Sklyarov O.D., Motorygin A.V.

Summary

Authors established that majority of diseases of young cattle aged up to 5 days amounts escherichiose. Data on its etiological structure, analysis of epizootic data on gastro-intestinal diseases, results of determination of pathogenic properties of serologic group identity of E.coli, isolated from feces and pathological-anatomical material at gastro-intestinal diseases of calves are presented in the article. Over half of cultures of Escherichia coli isolated out of pathological material from calves aged 2 – 5 days with symptoms of gastro-intestinal infection in the farms of Ryazan region were not typed by O-antigen. The most virulent isolates of Escherichia were isolated from feces of calves with clinical signs of diarrhea, dehydration and toxemia, and were assigned to serologic groups O8 and O115.

Key words: Escherichia, enterobacteria, serological identification, pathogenic strains.
